Chiba’s history goes back to 1853, when Alois Chiba was sent to Abertham from Vienna by request of the Austrian emperor in order to encourage the development of that depressed region. From that moment on, Abertham became the main place of production for gloves in Germany and Austria. The Second World War forced the company to move its production near Munich, to the Bavarian Alps.

Nowadays, Chiba is the most important manufacturer of gloves in Germany and the sole German brand producing in the country. Chiba’s most characteristic features are high quality and comfort. Gloves are designed taking into account the experience of the best athletes and therapists to subsequently test them in the harsh Bavarian mountains.
